Jonathan Andrews' Kingsmen Quartet Page
Another one of my favorite quartets is the Kingsmen Quartet from around Asheville, North Carolina. They have been around since the mid to late forties but were known by a couple of other names up until about 1955, when I believe Eldridge Fox assumed managerial duties and named them the Kingsmen Quartet. They have had many years of successful ministry. The Kingsmen have had many singers and musicians pass through their group. Some of these are tenor singers Johnny Parrack, Ernie Phillips, and Gary Sheppard. Every long time Kingsmen fan knows who lead singer and master of ceremonies, Jim Hammill is. He was a great mc as far as keeping the crowd into the concert. And anyone who has any live recordings of the Kingsmen from the late seventies and early eighties knows the way he introduced certain members of the group. The Kingsmen have had a number of great baritone singers. Such as Eldridge Fox, Squire Parsons, Mark Trammell, Wayne Mainard, and Parker Jonathan. Some of their musicians have been Anthony Burger, Martin Cook, Greg Fox, Garry Dillard, Brandon Reese, and others. A few of the songs they did over the years were songs like Saints Will Rise, Excuses, More Excuses, The Judgement, Wish You Were Here, The Next Cloud, and many others too numerous to name here. A few years ago they went through a period of uncertainty as to what they would do after Eldridge Fox retired from the group and later passed away. For about three years they changed the name to the Carolina Boys Quartet. They just took the name Kingsmen back out of retirement a few years ago. They have been around in some form for over fifty years I believe. I hope you guys are around for another fifty years if the Lord tarries that long. The Kingsmen currently consist of Ray Reese - Bass singer/Manager, Brandon Reese - Drums, Bob Sellers - Lead, Randy Crawford - Baritone, Chris Jenkins - Tenor. Below are some of the songs that they have made famous over the years.
A Place Where The Hungry Are Fed
Beautiful Home
Child, Child
Excuses
Glory Road
Go And Tell Somebody
He's All I Need
I Will Rise Up From My Grave
It Made News In Heaven
Jesus, I Love You
Just As The Sun Went Down
Leave Your Sorrows
Look For Me At Jesus'Feet
Love Lifted Me
Love Will Roll The Clouds Away
More Than Enough
Nobody Saved But Me
Shake Hands With A Poor Boy
The Cross Has Won Again
The Lovely Name Of Jesus
The Old Ship Of Zion
When God Ran
When Mama Prayed(Heaven Paid Attention)
Wish You Were Here
